Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect

• Account info: email, username, full name, avatar, and anything you add to your profile (bio, voice preference).
• Content you create: journal entries, Square posts, comments, stories, prayer points, sermon notes, and what you tell the AI companion (your prompts, moods, and — if you choose to share it — your ongoing life situation).
• Usage data: which Bible books/chapters you read, which posts you view, streaks, credit transactions, and app interaction events needed to make features like read counts and view counts work.
• Payment data: handled entirely by Paystack — we receive confirmation of a payment and, for bank transfer top-ups, a linked account reference. We never see or store your card number.

2. How Your Data Powers AI Features

When you use the devotional companion, power prayer, or sermon-note assistant, your prompt and relevant context (your recent mood history, what you've told us you're going through) is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic, maker of Claude) to generate a response. This is necessary for the feature to work — there is no way to generate a personalized reflection without sharing what you typed with the model that writes it. Anthropic processes this data under its own API terms and does not use API data to train its models by default. We do not sell this data to anyone.

3. Where Your Data Lives

App data (profiles, posts, journals, transactions, etc.) is stored with Supabase (Postgres + storage), access-controlled so you can only read or write your own private data — enforced at the database level, not just in the app's screens. Media (photos, story clips) is stored in Supabase Storage. Push notification tokens are held by Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver reminders and alerts.

4. Who We Share Data With

• Anthropic — to generate AI companion responses (section 2).
• Paystack — to process credit purchases and community offerings.
• Supabase — our database, auth, and file storage provider.
• Firebase — push notification delivery only.

We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or data brokers.

5. What Other Users Can See

Your username, avatar, bio, streak, and follower/following counts are visible to anyone who views your profile. Anything you post publicly (Square posts, public journal entries, stories, comments) is visible to other users of the app. Private journal entries and prayer points stay private to you unless you publish them.

6. Your Controls

From Profile & Wallet you can export a copy of your data at any time, and delete your account entirely — this removes your profile and associated content per our data retention practices. Deleting your account forfeits any unused credits; they are not refundable in cash.

7. Children's Privacy

UPLIFT is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under that age.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be highlighted in-app.
